Michigan's Constitution Amendment Process

On Tuesday October 2, I attended the Lapeer County Tea Party Patriot’s meeting regarding the six ballot proposals.  After the speaker, Vinny - from the Mackinac Center, finished his presentation, I asked him the following question: “How is it that the Michigan Constitution can be amended by a simple majority vote on a petition submitted by group of people?”   Vinny responded by saying he basically agreed that it was a good idea for the people to be able to directly…

LCS - The A,B,C's and Living within your means..

It seems to me that our  Lapeer Community Schools Board of Education members and Administration should be accountable for the results of their actions just as they expect our kids to be responsible for their actions and not "sweep things under the rug" when mistakes have been made.

Just like corporations, banks, cities, counties and states, our school districts are evaluated on how efficiently and fiscally responsible they operate their districts. Our district…

Justice Markman and Judge O'Brien

I attended the Lapeer Tea Party meeting on the evening of July 3, 2012 to hear the invited speakers -Michigan Supreme Court Justice Stephen Markman and District Judge Colleen O’Brien, both of whom are seeking election to the Michigan Supreme Court.  Justice Markman is seeking re-election and Judge O’Brien is seeking election to an open seat to be vacated by Justice Kelly due to age term limits.  After the meeting, I went home and did some online research on both…

With 2 more schools sold, will we really break even??

As I read in the June 24th edition of the Lapeer County Press, I see that our district looks to finalize the sale of the now closed Hadley and Elba elementary buildings. On the face of it, it seems like good news. The district will be out from under the burdens that unused buildings cost us to maintain. Also, this will mean money into our fund for repairing the buildings that we are still using. According to the paper, the combined sale of $250,000. This is good news, but what is…

County sets millage rates (From 6-20-2012 County Press)

LAPEER COUNTY — Despite the confusing language in the legally-required public notice, no one showed up Thursday at the public hearing regarding the county’s millage for general operations.

The commissioners approved the millage rate of 3.7886 mills be put on the 2012 tax rolls, as well as the three voted-upon millages of .33 mill for the Lapeer County Medical Care Facility, .75 mill for 911 and .25 mill for senior citizens.

The county’s taxable valuation is…

Animal Farm and Barack Obama

Animal Farm and Barack Obama

by David E. Bloch

George Orwell wrote Animal Farm in 1946 while living in England.   The book is an allegory of the Communist Revolution in Russia and its aftermath – Stalin’s Communist Soviet Union.  The main characters in Orwell’s Animal Farm are:  Napoleon = Stalin, Snowball = Trotsky, Farmer…

Michigan's US Senate Candidates set...

Gary Glenn with most support (petitions) out the chute...

It’s easiest to convey my thoughts by sharing an excerpt from an e-mail (follow-up to a phone conversation) I sent …

… as I stated on the phone: “the road to GOP nominations goes through the TEA Party groups…. and that Gary Glenn is that Candidate in Michigan….”

Further, I mentioned that just like Richard Mourdock in Indiana (with Grassroots…

How about you?

The coming election is one that is generational, that is, it sets the direction for decades to come.  The choice is to continue the 'transformation' of America started by Barack Obama in which power centralizes and the Constitution is shredded and ignored or to move in a direction started by the Founders and supported by the Constitution and individual liberty.  The Lapeer Tea Party is attempting to bring you great speakers on a variety of issues that speak to the direction and choice we…

Lapeer Community Schools will spend at least $2.4 Million on closed buildings

As we all know, things could be better for our schools, and that especially applies to Lapeer Community Schools. Here we are in 2012 with some major decisions to address in dealing with our long term future, but to do that we must know how we have arrived where we are today. We are facing an over 8 million dollar deficit that MUST be addressed this year. This comes on the heals of our district taking 2.7 million dollars last year out of our rainy day fund rather than make the hard…

Faith

Do you feel that much of the malaise today is due to a loss of faith?  Our leaders regardless of party have shown deeds that are not in accordance with God's will. How many times must politicians steal money, pass laws that don't apply to them, enable abortion, wage class warfare, pit one group against another, do 'insider trading' or other behavior that will not just fail public acts but completely fall below standards of our creator? For this nation founded on religious freedom and faith…

Lapeer County Tea Party Patriots actively engage our 2012 candidates

With the Presidential primary election this past Tuesday, our group has been visibly involved with getting to know our candidates and issues for the all important 2012 election. On Friday, February 17th, several from our group went to see Sen. Rick Santorum. Bob Murphy and myself met with Mr. Santorum privately in a group of about 20. It was very informative.

Our groups was also one of the cosponsors of a forum with Gov. Mitt Romney on Feb 23rd. This is something that Gov. Romney has…

GET YOURSELF INFORMED... Do your homework (think things ALL the way through)... The little details MATTER!

[I attended a U.S. Senate Candidate forum (2 were in attendance). Here is what (I came away with, and) I felt was most important to share with those at their site following that event. It is worth sharing with all of you too.]

A TEA Party principle/value: GET INFORMED - don't take the platitudes and speeches as the determining factor of your votes, but instead the starting point on which you do your "due diligence" and think through the whole process.

There is an old saying:…

The Contraception deception

"If you like your plan, you will get to keep your plan!" Remember Obama promising you that about ObaMAOcare?!?!?!

Do you think Religious institutions, exercising their conscience by not having their plans include contraception and the (Morning after) Abortion pill, like their plans the way they are?!?! Obama shows how "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan" is, and always has been; as well as most everything else out of his mouth is; A LIE!

There is something else that…

Preacher-In-Chief? says Jesus wants YOU to pay more in Taxes?!?!

Obama's channeling Rev. Wright made me think of this older piece I'd like to share with you...

Liberal's Religion is Government - their motto: Separation FROM Church TO State...

Conservative mindset: "Pay it Forward!"

Liberal mindset: "Pay it For ME!"

We are now reaping what Liberals have been allowed to sow! .... "Render Unto Caesar" does NOT mean in Liberal Laziness pass/transfer Responsibilities to the State.... "Separation FROM Church TO State" .... "Creating…
