Rand Pac: Stop Common Core Petition
The Founding Fathers never intended the Federal government to run our
educational system. Under the Constitution’s 10th Amendment education should
fall under the jurisdiction of the states and localities. But big government
politicians chipped away at this local control for years, finally culminating in the
creation of the Department of Education in 1979. Conservatives, led by
presidential candidate, Ronald Reagan, fought the encroaching federal take over
every step of the way, fearing the madness we see being proposed today.
The Department of Education’s budget has exploded by over 500 % since its
creation. We receive virtually nothing in return as big government education,
ideas and all its centralization has become far more interested in social
indoctrination than teaching children the “3 R’s”. American students performances
remains flat and like No Child Left Behind, Common Core is a top-down, onesize-
fits-all education policy that simply won’t work.
Studies show that one-size-fits-all policies under the U.S. Department of Education
have resulted in American students falling dramatically behind other countries.
I urge you to support legislation that DEFUNDS the wasteful and ineffective U.S.
Department of Education Common Core Standards and let parents, educators, and
local school boards determine the educational policies in our schools.

Imagine the next generation of Americans after years of Common Core’s
progressive indoctrination in the classroom and how government bureaucrats will
choose to wield the massive amounts of data collected on American school
children and their families.
