WHO IS DEFINING RADICALISM HERE ?

The other day I was reading an article by Tim Brown.  The article was titled “Navy Seals Ordered Not to wear their “Don’t Tread on Me’ Patch.” These words are on a patch with a background of the flag with a rattle snake across it.

I am an American Veteran.  I question why they are taking away a symbol of pride that has brought our American fighting personal together as one unit for many years.  This has been a symbol of unity/freedom from tyranny since the beginning of this country.  As I read the article the reason presented was that they felt the patch, or symbol, was too closely associated with what they considered “Radical Groups”.  Wait a minute.  Do they consider the Fathers of our country a radical group?  What about our American fighting men and women that have worn that patch for years, not to mention the ships of our Navy and the soldiers that flew this flag from their barracks around the world?  Are they radical groups?  The eye opener to me was that the groups that were being deemed radical are Christians, constitutionalists, liberty minded people, Tea Party groups and conservatives.  I’m asking the same question the writer is asking and the same question I hope you are asking yourself, WHO IS DEFINING RADICAL HERE?  Are people who believe and worship Jesus Christ, believe and support the constitution, radicals? Are my friends and neighbors that also believe in the constitution, smaller government and fewer taxes, radicals?  If that’s true, where is this country going?

What was not mentioned were groups like Socialists, Communist, Marxists and radical Islamic groups.  Why are these not considered radicals?  Aren’t these the real groups we have been against in this county for over 200 years?  Aren’t these the groups that are against freedom of speech, choice of religion and being free from invasions of your privacy and limited government? 

So, who is defining theses groups as “radical”?   I can only believe the answer is the Commander and Chief of our Military, the leader of our country, President Barack Obama.  He is the one who has the final word here.  God help us if these are the groups he believes to be radical in our country.
