Elections have consequences
In 2009 President Obama famously told Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in a private meeting that “elections have consequences” referring to the 2008 election when Democrats won the White House and majorities in both the Houses and Senate. Unfortunately we have witnessed the consequences of that election for the last six years with devastating results.
The first and most obvious consequence was Obamacare which was forced upon us by the President and his Democrat controlled House and Senate. On Nov. 7 several days after the Nov. 4 elections in a video uploaded to YouTube we saw Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber telling a group of healthcare economists in 2013 that the “lack of transparency” regarding the bill’s contents and “the stupidity of the American voter” were critical to its passage through Congress in 2010.
Other consequences Obama and the Democrats have given us include the VA scandal, the IRS scandal, the Benghazi scandal the Operation Fast & Furious - DOJ scandal, the Bowe Bergdahl-Taliban prisoner swap, the administration’s handling of the Ebola crisis, the abysmal mess that the President and his administration have made in the middle east, and their total disregard of the Constitution and our individual rights… and the list goes on and on.
President Obama gave a speech at Northwestern University on Oct. 2 where he said “I am not on the ballot this fall,” but my “policies are on the ballot,” “every single one of them.” That’s true and the American people spoke loudly by rejecting his policies and the Democratic Party on Nov. 4. In the end they lost control of the Senate by eight possibly nine seats, lost 12 additional House seats and 3 governorships.
It’s amazing that after that stunning loss Obama believes that this election does not have any consequences for him. He refuses to back down on a very divisive issue that he plans to implement before the end of the year… executive amnesty for illegals. This is a lawless action because the Constitution does not give the President the authority to make new law, that responsibility is reserved for Congress.
Unfortunately the only way to stop him is by withholding funding that would be used to implement this amnesty. In doing so the Republican Party risks a potential government shutdown, but isn’t it worth shutting down the government for a few weeks to stop this illegal executive action and the lawlessness we’ve seen in Washington under this President? Absolutely… isn’t that what the American voters said on Nov. 4? Remember what has taken place over the last few years at our southern border. Our country is being overrun by a President who said that he wants to fundamentally transform America… and for the last six years he has been incrementally turning America into a Socialist State, and we need stop it now while we still can.
Please contact Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker John Boehner and Representative Candice Miller, and ask them to stop President Obama’s amnesty by using the power of the purse… because elections do have consequences.
