Keeping the grass roots growing!!
(From our Friends at Rattle With Us Tea Party)
As many of you know, MI Senator Patrick Colbeck has been a solid Tea Party conservative in his first term in the Senate. He has been outspoken in his opposition to Medicaid expansion in support of the PPACA (aka Obamacare), Common Core, increasing taxes and was one of the principles who pushed Right to Work through passage two years ago (while we were witnessing the thugs take down the AFP-MI tent outside the capital).
As his punishment for being such a staunch Tea Party conservative Sen. Colbeck has been denied any chairmanship positions on any committees for next session. Folks that includes committees on which he was an active member for the past four years, while freshmen senators who have worked to move the Governor's supported bills through the House have been rewarded with committees upon moving to the Senate.
Some of us have thought maybe we should be sending a message from the grassroots. We can do that by showing up en mass on Wednesday when the official swearing in for the Senators takes place in the Capital and show our support for Senator Colbeck. Here is the info about the plan from a member of Rattle With Us, the Tea Party which Sen. Colbeck came out of and who supported and campaigned for him and got hem elected twice.

Here are the details for anyone who plans on coming to Lansing on Wednesday (1/14). We plan on meeting in Patrick's office between 9:00 - 9:30 AM before going over to the Capitol at 10:15. There will be light refreshments in his office but if anyone wants to contribute to the larder - please feel free.
As of this point the understanding is we are able to go to the swearing in ceremony and get a picture taken with the Senator. The tickets are for those who are invited to stay after for the Senate session where floor speeches will be made.
Scott Hagerstrom is going to hold a special meeting for those in town in his office at 12:00 PM. He said he would supply the pizza. Depending on the time we finish at the Capitol, we can go back to Senator Colbeck's office and hang out there till noon. He said he would have a television on in his office so we can watch the session - which I understand will be worth the watch.
Please put this out to your groups and see what kind of turn out we can get in support of Patrick. I have asked Scott for the address to his office but for now we are meeting between 9:00 - 9:30 AM in the Farnum Building in office 1020. The Farnum building is on the corner of Allegan and Capitol. Anyone in town can direct you to it. (Map is here).
Thanks and looking forward to seeing you there!
