Keeping the grass roots growing!!
In Wednesday's edition of The County Press, Lynnette Burns stated that she hoped the Tea Partiers were happy with themselves and that the rich are richer and she is poorer. Well Lynnette, I hate to tell you but after the recent passage of the “debt crisis legislation”, we are ALL poorer. This legislation was not a win for anybody except those that are not truly serious about moving this country out of debt and onto a path of economic prosperity. This legislation was NOT supported by those supporting Tea Party principles. As the Tea Party claimed they would do, we have continued to hold our legislators accountable for their actions. We are not beholden to them and we are careful to let them know when we do and do not support their positions. The Tea Party groups in this area were vocal to Rep. Candice Miller that we wanted her to vote NO on this legislation and the groups will continue to let her know we are not happy that she voted in favor of it.
Within days of the passage of this legislation that was to be a lifeline to our failing economic status in this country, the GDP hit the same amount as the national debt. I have never been good at math, but even with my poor mathematical skills, I can not see how a country can continue to operate under those kinds of accounting. The only thing that is going to keep all of us from being poor and beholden to the government coffers is a decrease in spending by our federal government. Until then, we will all be poorer, economically and ideologically. And until then, Tea Partiers will continue to be “stubborn” and vigilant in trying to move our country towards a path that will keep America strong and Americans stronger.
